As mothers, we want to feed our families with high quality food as well, but sometimes kids aren't very cooperative. Let's talk about the struggles AND the successes. What foods have you offered that have been a big hit?

I need to check out options for bulk-buying here in the UK. I'm getting them in tiny packets. Love the idea of keeping them soaking in the fridge.

I have a bag of cocoa nibs in my pantry that I occasionally nibble on. LOL I wonder if that's why they call them nibs.

Yes, what Beth said! :0) I first heard of them when I read Susan's "Food" book. Took me quite a while to find them, and even now they aren't always available, certainly as easily as other oat products. Not all the health food stores here have the...

Thanks for this...yet another great site to explore! I'm not sure I could do the 100% raw thing. My aim for nwo is 70-80% in the winter months, and 80-90% in the summer. One thing's for sure - I'm enjoying eating the raw stuff much more than I t...

I get ya. Certain foods can have certain associations, and even the "whole, organic, low fat" version can trigger behavioural results. That's a toughie. For me, it would be biscuits (or cookies, as my US friends would say it!). I just don't have t...

Savor.....

A simple reading reminded me to savor
Yesterday I sent an appreciative email to a loved one just because
Today I joyfully played puzzles in the floor with my daughter at 6:30 a.m.
I lovingly soaked myself in a warm bath
and consciously made roasted potatoes for lunch
I savored my daughter's response to something other than
the fastfood guy french fries
and fondly etched her response on my mind
"Delicious"...and..."More please"....
Savor the good stuff.....
Remember, remind, redo.....
The End.

Fear Can Be Our Own Worse Enemy...

Found this in my email today and felt I should share it:

I just want to thank all of you for your educational e-mails over the past year. I am totally screwed up now and have little chance of recovery.

I no longer open a public bathroom door without using a paper towel or have them put lemon slices in my ice water without worrying about the bacteria on the lemon peel.

I can't use the remote in a hotel room because I don't know what the last person was doing while flipping through the adult m… Continue

Random People In Usual Places

I decided to hit the mall at lunch today and get some shopping in since I really wasn't hungry. I go to all my usual places and this one sales person, who has been at this place forever, came up to me and told me I was looking good lately. First thing that came to mind of course is what does she want to sell me?

Upon further discussion I finally realized that she was the one that sold me the pants that now sit in my room waiting for my waist to fit into it. She had the most bewildered look on h… Continue

Still here

Hi everyone!
Things have been so crazy with school, I just realized I have no blogged in ages....I'm sorry. I am in the 2nd half of the semester and things are going well. I'm getting over the 2nd cold of the season with no complaints. My college got hit hard with Swine Flu and I escaped it, so I'm happy.
Today I went to buy some groceries and discovered I was picking up all kinds of veggies...I am so hungry for roasted veggies. The weather here is screaming for squash and roasted veggies for di… Continue

Me & My Shadow

I was walking this morning to the next building and noticed that my shadow no longer looks like the goodyear blimp. Very excited now...wonder if I can wear those pants I bought as a goal. :-)

A Full Moon...an Awakening

Last night the moon
was full
it was big
and bright
I appreciated its splendor
The bombing of the moon
still makes me cringe
I am starting to see how
its all CONNECTED
The truth is the truth
Man finding water on the moon
as ridiculous as Columbus finding America

I was watching a cartoon with my 2 y/o
it reminded me that our loved ones in other countries
see the same moon as me each night.
How dare they even attempt to "find" anything on the moon!

A full moon equals a… Continue

Unexpected Benefits of Changes

So, after wandering off the path to wellness for a while I'm back on it.

Small changes, not trying to change everything at once.

This week: increase water intake

Unexpected benefit - I work on the second floor, bathroom downstairs, no elevator..... I could have climbed a ten story building by now.....

Dicouragement / Remodel

I am in the middle of a remodel of my kitchen. (You would think that would be enough said, nope)
I have been without a fridge for about a month. I have no "food" in my house. Up until yesterday I had no running water in my kitchen.
These obstacles are really wearing on me. Eating out frequently. .
It is driving me crazy and I just want to scream!

I am extremely discouraged, I can't wait to get back to cooking so I can eat high Quality food again.
Any suggestions?
